Danish registry study showed increased incidence of paediatric haemangiomas and congenital vascular malformations from 1996 to 2015

Vascular lesions are categorised as vascular tumours and vascular malformations. They often present during early childhood and are frequently seen in the head and neck area. Earlier classifications were based on dated research but the classification scheme introduced by the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies in 1992, has made it easier to identify vascular lesions and distinguish specific malformations.
