Abstract
Due to high levels of stress in many professions today, an increasing number of people experience a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion referred to as the burnout syndrome. The neural underpinnings of the burnout syndrome remain however poorly understood. This highly timely topic was addressed by de Andrade et al. (1) in a functional MRI study investigating pediatric medical residents at the University of São Paulo Brazil. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
