Astma er en folkesygdom

Asthma is a frequent illness in young adults and is characterized by airway hyper responsiveness (AHR) and airway inflammation. Asthma is a complex disease and AHR as well as inflammation may be limited, although characteristic symptoms are present. The clinical experience in asthma treatment is that not all asthmatics have a satisfactory effect of the different drugs. Asthma has been found to develop from one disease to a multifaceted disease with numerous different possibilities. More research is needed in strategic asthma management in the search for tailored treatment strategy.
