Abstract

Acetabular fractures are complex periarticular fractures of the pelvis that are challenging to repair. Understanding the 3D anatomy can be demanding, especially when correlating to imaging. This chapter will outline how to evaluate acetabular fractures and briefly describe the Letournel classification of acetabular fractures. It will focus on basic fracture patterns that can be addressed in the community. The approach, tips, and tricks for these elementary patterns can be applied to the other elementary and associated patterns. This chapter will describe the approach, reduction techniques, and fixation techniques, in addition to postoperative care.
