Abstract
Objective
To critically assess the accuracy of scales and stadiometers at a Danish hospital.
Conclusion
Less than half the scales and stadiometers detected accurate weight and height. The margin of potential error may lead to suboptimal diagnostics of obesity and assessment of the nutritional status of both in and out patients. It is necessary at least yearly to calibrate scales and stadiometers, in order to obtain correct assessment of height and weight.
