Translational genetics and multi-omics: understanding the biological mehcanism neurological conditions, and the imapct of the menstrual cycle systemsbiology, with the vision of precision medicine
Thomas F. Hansen, with formal training in Biochemistry, has made significantly contributed to Genetics and Molecular Genomics, focusing particularly on brain disorders. Since 2015, he has been leading the NeuroGenomics Group at the Danish Headache Center, where his team delves into the genomic intricacies of migraine and other neurological conditions and his group is recognized for the dual focus on advancing biological understanding and enhancing precision medicine. A defining aspect of his research includes his commitment to establishing research biobanks and employing data-driven methodologies. He places special emphasis on gender-stratified research, recognizing the vital importance of addressing gender-specific factors, such as menstrual migraine, in both studies and treatment strategies. His work incorporates temporal and spatial omics analyses to understand treatment effects and disease symptomatology, further demonstrating his dedication to inclusive and comprehensive medical research.
Dr. Hansen's academic pursuits expanded in 2018 when he joined the Brunak lab at Copenhagen University as an Associate Professor. This role has deepened his involvement in genomic research and significantly contributed to the advancement of data-driven methodologies in the field. Additionally, Thomas is a key member of the Danish Blood Donor Study's steering committee and co-founder of the DBDS Genomic Consortium. He serves as the Principal Investigator for The Danish Headache Biobank and the Danish Migraine Population Cohort. As the Deputy Chair of IHGC, underscoring his collaborative efforts in international research initiatives
