Primære forskningsområder

Biomarker discovery approaches within neurodegenerative diseases; Systems neuroscience with focus on the role of serotonin and dopamine in regulating executive function

Aktuel forskning

Neuroinflammation in Parkinson and Atypical Parkinsonism and the identification of biological markers reflecting disease state and progression in brain samples of patients by both genome wide screening and hypothesis driven target -specific discovery approaches . POM validation of these biological markers in preclinical models and biomarker validation in prospective clinical cohort studies.

Clarify serotonin 2A receptor 's role in modulating cortical and subcortical structures involved in neural circuitries regulating attention and decision-making. Validate in phenotypically well-characterized preclinical models to what extend functionality levels of serotonin 2A (and other interrelated neurotransmitter receptors) is an endophenotypic trait associated with cognitive dysfunction. Relevant, as serotonin 2A receptor may be a potential drug target for alleviating executive function impairments associated with a spectrum of neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
