Expertise

Søren Bache is an MD specialising in anaesthesiology. During past clinical positions he has conducted research projects in relation to 1) anaphylaxis in the peri-operative setting triggered by ethylene oxide, 2) use of ultrasound in airway management during induction of general anaesthesia and 3) problems with obtaining sufficient anaesthesia with propofol and remifentanil.

Primære forskningsområder

Subarachnoid hemorrhage; microRNA; biomarkers; real-time quantification PCR; metabolomics; microdialysis; ultrasound and anaesthesia; regional anaesthesthesia; remifentanil; ethylene oxide and anaphylaxis; cardiac arrest

Aktuel forskning

Since 2014, he has been enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen on a clinical project based at the Neurointensive Care Unit and Centre for Genomic Medicine at Rigshospitalet, describing changes in microRNA in cerebrospinal fluid and plasma in patients after subarachnoid hemorrhage. As part of this project he is also affiliated with the Neuroscience Care Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, from where he has obtained a replication cohort for his microRNA studies as well as received training in liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The latter has been used for acquisition of metabolomics data in the same cohorts for added biological information on relations between changes in miRNAs and metabolism.

Currently, he is writing up his PhD thesis on his results from studying microRNA changes in cerebrospinal fluid after subarachnoid hemorrhage.
