My research focus on diet and genetics of the Greenlandic Inuit in relation to metabolic health.
Aktuel forskning
I am currently working with a genetic variant that only excists in Arctic populations. The variant results in an inabilty to digest sucrose - meaning that if you inherited this genetic variant from your parents, you cannot tolerate sugar. We recently found out that Greenlanders who are sucrose-intolerant are metabolically healthier. With my current project I want to figure out why. I'm therefore currently located in Nuuk to do a dietary intervention. I'm affiliated with Steno Diabetes Center Greenland, and working at Illimartusarfik (University of Greenland).
