Aktuel forskning

The aim of my research is to find early signs of cognitive decline in the elderly. My material comes from a birth cohort, namely the Metropolit cohort, consisting of men born in 1953 in the Copenhagen area. They have been followed repeated times throughout their lives and their cognitive performance has been assessed through the use of IQ tests at different occasions as well as now.

The subjects are submitted multiple sensory stimulations (visual and auditory) and their brain responses are measured using electroencephalography (EEG) and function magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Advanced signal analysis of the EEG alone, as well as in combination with fMRI, is performed and correlated to multiple factors that could have an impact on the response (IQ, cognitive performance, medical tests, etc.).

This project is a part of a larger research project, consisting of many young researchers from different fields of expertise, psychologist, professors and more. Together we hope to better understand the impact of healthy aging on the brain.
