Main focus of research
The main focus areas are 1) examination of factors influencing in-hospital outcome, 2) development / validation of outcome measures, 3) determine the feasibility of physical rehabilitation interventions, and 4) examine the effect of such interventions proven feasible, primarily in patients with hip fracture and after lower limb amputation, but also involved in studies of patients with Geriatric disorders, Abdominal surgery, AECOPD, Diabetes, Clavicle fractures and Achilles tendon ruptures.

15 years of experience in running; large cross-sectional and follow-up cohort studies; development and reliability of outcome measure studies; feasibility and randomized controlled rials. Development of clinical practice guidelines; supervision of students from BSc to PhD level; review of scientific papers; censoring at university level.
The main focus areas are 1) determine the feasibility of physical rehabilitation interventions 2) examine the effect of such interventions proven feasible, 3) development and validation of outcome measures, and 4) examination of factors influencing in-hospital outcome, primarily in patients with hip fracture and after dys-vascular lower limb amputation, but also involved in studies of patients with Geriatric disorders, major abdominal surgery, Lung diseases, Diabetes, Clavicle fractures and Achilles tendon ruptures.
- Development of a new basic mobility score system for patients with lower limb amputation.
- Examine the feasibility of IMT for patients with hypercapnia.
- Examine the feasibility of an intensive mobilization protocol for patients following major abdominal surgery
- Reliability of 8 outcome measures used in outpatient settings for patients with hip fracture
- Examine characteristics and functional outcome of "younger" patients with hip fracture
- Examine the efficacy of ankle range of motion versus none, following Achilles tendon rupture
- Preparing new intervention studies combining exercise with anabolic steroids and protein supplements in patients with hip fracture.
- Preparing new studies validating outcome measures for the assessment of elongation of the Achilles tendon after rupture.
