Primære forskningsområder
Vaccines are the most powerful prophylactic tools we have. We carry out vaccine trials to determine ideal vaccines and vaccine schedules, and to study potential non-specific effects of vaccines. Using register-based research, we determine risk factors for vaccination.
Little is known about rates of and risk factors for hospitalization, medication use, and mortality among Danish children. With the aim of prophylaxis, we carry out population-based register studies to determine rates of and risk factors for hospitalisation, drug use, and mortality among Danish children.
In affluent countries, atopic disease is the most frequent chronic condition in childhood. With the aim of prophylaxis, we determine risk factors for and rates of atopic diseases (eczema, asthma and allergic rhinoconjunctivitis) on a population level. We develop and validate algorithms to identify children with atopic disease registrations on specific hospitalisation and medication use from public health registers. In addition, we study the interaction between viral airway infections, wheezing and asthma.
