Aktuel forskning
Currently, I am working as a Ph.D.-student at the Department of Neurology in cooperation with Department of Biomarkers and Autoimmunology at Statens Serum Institute. I'm attached to the Movement Disorders Research Group and primarily working with Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonism.
I focus on the epidemiology of the rare atypical parkinson disorder, Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), for which we are investigating pharmacological risk-factors, survival and clinical features in the Danish population. MSA can be difficult to differentiate from typical Parkinson's disease in the early disease stages and miss-diagnosis frequent. Within the Department of Neurology an initiative to establish a Biobank has been made as biomarkers in blood and cerebrospinal fluid could potentially aid an earlier and more accurate diagnosis. In my project I investigate if microRNAs, alpha-synuclein and inflammatory markers could potentially act as biomarkers of diagnosis.
