Medical Doctor, Ph.D.-Student

Cecilie is a medical doctor, specializing in orthopedic surgery, with great interest in sports science and sports related injuries. From an early onset, Cecilie was interested in research on active lifestyle, and she was during her medical studies affiliated with the Centre for Physical Activity Research, Rigshospitalet, which lead to co-authorship in three articles on exercise and cancer. Now she has finished the first year of specialization in orthopedic surgery at the Orthopedic Department at Amager-Hvidovre Hospital and has been affiliated with SORC-C since 2021 partaking in research on anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

 

Currently, Cecilie is preparing her PhD and conducting a randomized controlled trial on graft choice in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, supervised by professor Per Hölmich, and in close collaboration with fellow PhD-student Merete Brink Speedtsberg, MSc.

 

As a former elite and national team beach volleyball player, Cecilie strives to improve treatment of sports related injuries in active individuals. She is a member of the Education Committee of the Danish Sports Medicine Committee, an association dedicated to educating and improving knowledge in the field of sports medicine.

  • Anterior cruciate ligament injuries in Denmark among 90,000 patients from 2000-2018. A retrospective study of epidemiology, injury, mechanism, patient reported outcomes and return to sport.
  • GRASE ACL: Optimizing GRAft SElection in ACL Reconstruction – a randomized controlled study of 150 active patients with first time ACL rupture.
