Prevalence and pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease in HIV positive patients.

  • To study the prevalence and pathophysiology of atherosclerotic disease in HIV+ in order to plan how to screen, monitor and treat these patients to minimize future cardiovascular events:

 

  • Comparison of the prevalence of endothelial dysfunction (82Rb-PET myocardial flow reserve) in women and males with HIV infection and no symptoms of CVD.

 

  • To compare subclinical atherosclerotic disease in HIV infected women with and without CMV co-infection.

 

  • Prediction of myocardial infarction in HIV+ adults by endothelial and inflammatory markers in plasma.

  • Long-term survival, health, and social functioning in patients diagnosed with European Lyme neuroborreliosis during 1985-2016
