Aktuel forskning

Male testicular function (spermatogenesis and testosterone production) is dependent on sufficient stimulation by FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) from the pituitary gland. The focus of this project is on three specific genetic variants with potential substantial impact on the FSH stimulation and thereby testes function in Danish men with various testicular function. The specific aims of this research project  has been to establish to which extent these genetic variants influence hormone profiles and spermatogenesis in men, and if these polymorphisms are associated with testicular cancer, testosterone deficiency or reduced semen quality, and can be used as genetic markers (incl. potential prediction of a clinical response to treatment).
