Ali Asmar completed medical school at the University of Copenhagen in 2009. For the past 6 years he has worked as a physician mainly in in the fields of Cardiology and Clinical Physiology. As a principle investigator, he has carried out several clinical studies with the purpose of elucidating physiological and pathophysiological blood pressure regulating mechanisms; cardiovascular, renal as well as mechanisms located in the central nervous system. He has accomplished a throughout understanding of the principles of gravitation and human blood pressure regulation, e.g. cardiovascular reflexes and vasoactive hormonal activation during graded lower body negative pressure and the use of basal indicator technique in hemodynamic measurements. Further, he is participating as co-investigator in the CARD and SMASH experiment performed on the International Space Station (ISS) in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The objective is to elucidate hemodynamics in astronauts exposed to chronic weightlessness
