Aims and objectives

The Trauma centre at Rigshospitalet is an ACS certified level 1 unit staffed and equipped to manage all acute severe trauma and medical conditions in a 2,6 million people catchments area. While the Trauma centre has its own nursing staff, all doctors are employed by other departments at the Rigshospitalet and called for the cases depending the needs of the case.

The Trauma Centre at Rigshospitalet is actively contributing to clinical and epidemiological research in the fields of nursing, trauma care, haemorrhage, and acute severe medical illness

Disciplines, methods and tools

The trauma centre participates in randomised trials investigating severe haemorrhage in optimise transfusion trategies. In addition, observational studies are conducted with focus on infection and inflammation following trauma.

The trauma centre records all trauma cases in the TARN registry as part of an international network for benchmarking and research.

The trauma centre register all cases with severe medical illness for quality control and continued monitoring of resource utilisation?
