Organisationsprofil

Aims and objectives

The Clinical Biochemical Department is basically a pipeline of information providing data extracted from any kind of human specimens. A major objective of the department is to engage in this dynamic and constantly evolving process which implies that the department is actively involved in development of and research in methodology as well in physiology and disease processes. In addition, the department aims at supply services to colleagues, in house and external, to approved projects not of prime interest of the department, but to promote science in general.

Focus areas

Situated in a hospital focus of research is naturally focused on the medical disciplines practised in the hospital, but not exclusively. Areas of interest reflects the interest and collaborations with colleagues in and outside the hospital and includes obesity, diabetes, gastrointestinal conditions, fertility and prenatal diagnostics, theoretical biology and modelling, pharmacologist, and not the least big-data research of the huge amount of data generated and accumulated qua daily routine procedures.

Disciplines, methods and tools

The department covers almost all aspects of analytical methods of biochemical compounds including mass-spectrometry and flow-cytometry. In addition, genetic analyses from simple variations to massive sequencing are performed in conjunction with sophisticated bio-informatics.
