Aims and objectives

To examine the occurrence and function of neuropeptides and neuropeptide-receptors and clarify their patobiochemical role in neuropsychiatries diseases.

Focus areas

Current studies aim elucidate the role of the neuropeptides VIP and PACAP in the function of the circadian system which governs our daily rhythm of behavior and physiology. Dysfunction of this system can lead to depression, cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Disciplines, methods and tools

A wide range of methods comprising neurochemistry, immunochemistry, molecular and cell biology are used. The experimental design includes cellular models, animal experiments including transgenic mice and clinical studies.
