Aims and objectives

At Center for Rheumatology and Spine Diseases our vision is to conduct internationally recognised research and to translate the research results into clinical practise in order to improve diagnosis, treatment and care of patients.?

Focus areas

Several research groups are established within Center for Rheumatology and Spine Diseases.

  • The Copenhagen Center for Arthritis Research (COPECARE) focuses on rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis and other inflammatory arthritides.

  • Copenhagen Lupus and Vasculitis Clinic, focuses mainly on connective tissue diseases and vacuities, whereas researchers at Institute for Inflammation Research conduct basic research in immunology and inflammation.

  •  Copenhagen Center for Back Research focuses on disorders of the back and treatment of back pain.

Disciplines, methods and tools

Various types of studies are conducted, ranging from clinical, diagnostic and epidemiological studies to research in immunopathogenesis, imaging such as MRI and ultrasonography, soluble biomarkers, nursing and health science etc.

Two national databases (DANBIO and COP-spine) and a newly established biobank (Dansk Reuma Biobank) are also based within our department. We have extensive national and international collaborations, and we strive to promote investigator initiated trials and to implement our findings in clinical practise.
