Afdeling for Klinisk Fysiologi og Nuklearmedicin

Organisationsprofil

Aims and objectives

To maintain and develop a comprehensive research program with strong national and international collaborations. We constantly adjust our research program to develop solutions to health challenges and unmet needs in patients.

Focus areas

Our research program currently focuses on development of new tracers for PET, PET/MRI hybrid imaging, theranostics, clinical evaluation of new diagnostic methods, and on the use of methods from clinical physiology and nuclear medicine to study pathophysiology in all areas of medicine.

Translational research in molecular imaging is given special attention in order to accelerate translation of new tracers into clinical use in patients. We have taken several new PET tracers into first-in-human use.

Disciplines, methods and tools

Main methods applied are:

Molecular imaging using PET and SPECT.

Hybrid imaging with PET/CT and PET/MRI

Hyperpolarized 13C-MRS alone or in combination with PET (hyperPET)

Production of radioisotopes (2 cyclotrons)

Radiochemistry, GMP production of PET tracers

Radio nuclide therapy (alpha and beta emitter therapy)

Methods for image-guided surgery (optical imaging)

Whole body counting

Various methods from clinical physiology
